MATERIAL HANDLING

AGVs and AMRs

Both automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) transport material in warehouses and factories. The difference lies in their routing and flexibility. AGVs travel on preset routes marked by wires, floor reflectors, or magnetic tape, making them best for when paths are unobstructed and fixed. AMRs use cameras and sensors to safely navigate around a floorplan, allowing for quick path changes via software and auto-rerouting if something gets in their way.
